Meet Our Attorneys
Brooke N. Burton
Partner
Brooke was raised in Campbellsville, Kentucky and is a 2006 honors graduate of Campbellsville High School. She attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, where she graduated summa cum laude in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. In 2013, she graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law with her Juris Doctor and was admitted to the Kentucky Bar in October of that year.
Brooke takes pride in providing excellent and compassionate service to her clients in all areas of the law. Prior to opening her own firm, she was a partner in H & C Law Group, PLLC with William M. (Mike) Hall, Jr. and worked as a legal secretary for Mike Hall, Jr. and Rodger Cox for nearly a decade while pursuing her undergraduate and law degrees. In 2019, she opened her own law firm, Brooke N. Cox, PSC, that she owned until forming this office with her long-time associate, Mackenzie.
Brooke lives in Campbellsville with her husband, Jeremy, and daughter, Vivian. She enjoys all types of music and is a pianist at Southside Christian Church, where she also serves as a Sunday School teacher for the middle school group and as Treasurer.

Mackenzie DeSpain Smith
Partner
Mackenzie was raised in Campbellsville, Kentucky and graduated at the top of her class at Taylor County High School in 2013. After graduation, she moved to Richmond, Kentucky where she attended Eastern Kentucky University and graduated summa cum laude in 2016 with a Bachelors of Science in Homeland Security and a minor in History. She graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in May of 2019 and was
admitted to the Kentucky Bar later than year.
Mackenzie has a client-centered practice and she enjoys listening to her clients and tailoring a solution designed specifically for their legal needs. Before joining Brooke N. Cox, PSC as an Associate in 2019, Mackenzie began her legal career working as an intern for Brooke and former partner, William M. Hall, Jr. During law school she worked for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Kentucky, Fayette County Circuit Judge Ernesto Scorsone, and boutique litigation firm Kerrick Bachert, PLLC. Mackenzie began working with Brooke again in December 2018 and helped establish Brooke N. Cox, PSC in 2019. Mackenzie now practices with her long-time friend and colleague, Brooke.
Mackenzie lives in Danville with her husband Kirk and their four cats, Rachel, Gomez, Liza and Daisy. She enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and going to live shows and concerts. Mackenzie is a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church in Danville, Kentucky.

Our favorite office puppy enjoys meeting new clients, both young and old, and finds her happiness in making people smile.
Unfortunately, correspondence with Jean Louise must take place in-office.
